Tuesday in the Fourth Week of Advent – Mass in the Morning
Readings:2 Sm 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16
God gave David a promise that his offspring will continue to rule and build a magnificent temple, and it did happen. Zechariah realizing this act of God states (in the Gospel reading of the day): “thus he remembers his holy covenant, the oath he swore to our father Abraham…” God never forgets his promise and His prophesies will always be fulfilled.
20 centuries before the promised Saviour was born as prophesied. And the vigil we are going to celebrate is a memory and an occasion of grater joy. It is also a reminder that God will come back to judge the living and the dead (as we profess in the creed). Let the Christmas celebration help us to meet and receive the Lord at any time – with lambs lit and filled with oil, with white garment necessary for the festive meal, and with the multiplied talents.
Prayer: Lord, help us to remain faithful everyday of our life, amen.
