Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Readings: 1Jgs 11:29-39A; Gospel Mt 22:1-14
The gospel today speaks about a wedding banquet which is well planned and prepared. We also see the invitations being sent again as a reminder through his servants to those who are invited. Unfortunately, nobody turns up.
In our life too sometimes we find very difficult to address a spiritual issue and to attend any spiritual activities because we are so busy with the worldly and material entertainments and engagements. We often neglect the invitations being sent from God through various persons or various circumstances in our life. We avoid treasure for a trifle. We feel its necessity only in troublesome situations. Today Jesus is inviting all of us to take part in the celebration of the Most Holy Eucharist which is the banquet prepared for us by sacrificing his own life. He also gives directives how to take part in it. Wear the robe of purity, through the sacrament of confession and take part in his love.
