Readings: Rm 13:8-10, Lk 14:25-33
In today’s first reading St. Paul would comment on the love of neighbor that love does no wrong to the neighbor; therefore love fulfilling the law. Fulfilling law for the sake is easy. But to follow the law of love is demanding. Our Lord followed the Law of Love. The result was his death on the cross. He never held on to anything that hindered the Law of Love. He knew the cost of it. He neither was carried away by the applauding crowd nor by the Divine Power. He never hated anyone but loved the will of his Father more and thus the people. A disciple must be led by the Law of Love like the master. A disciple’s priority must be of his master’s in all dimensions of his life.
