Monday of the First Week of Advent
Readings: Is 4:2-6,Mt 8:5-11
Approaching God with faith, realizing our standard is a sure means of enjoying His presence. The centurion (in the Gospel of today) exhibits a great faith, in humility, that does not even expect Jesus to come home to do a miracle (an expression of his humility), but only looks for a word from His lips for the healing to take place. This deep faith is acknowledged by Jesus Christ.
If the Lord were to appear before us, what would he state?
Will he say, “You faithless generation” (Mk 9: 19) or “You faithless and perverse generation” (Mt 17: 17) or “Daughter, your faith has made you well” (Lk 8: 48). Let us introspect with the realization that without faith it is impossible to please God” (Heb 11: 6). Let us grow in faith and enjoy His presence overshadowing every day of our life (Is 4: 6).
Prayer: Lord, I believe help my unbelief (Mk 9: 24).
