20 Nov 2018: The sinner and his Savior

Tuesday of the Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1: Rv 3: 1-6, 14-22Gospel: Luke 19:1-10

This is a beautiful narrative of the sinner and his Savior. Zacchaeus knew he was a sinner,a corrupt tax official, who had defrauded many. He also knew that he desperately needed a savior. So the moment he heard that Jesus was going to pass by, he eagerly ran ahead and climbed up a tree, so that he could see the face of Jesus, little did he know that, what would happen next, would change the course of his life. Jesus while walking down the lane, stopped suddenly near the tree and looked up at Zacchaeus and spoke the most beautiful words to him-I am coming to your home today. What followed is the conversion story of Zacchaeus. The point that needs to be highlighted is that Jesus never condemned him, he just met Zacchaeus at the point of his need .
