5 July, 2017: Power of God’s Name

Wednesday of the Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Reading 1: Gn 21. 5, 8-20a; Gospel: Mt. 8. 28-34.

Today’s gospel reminds about the power of God’s name. In our day-to-day life, most of us take a step towards God, may be after a series of tragic experiences or difficulties. While such decisions are being taken, there is always a force from the evil not to indulge in doing such good things. And so often we are not able to resist the temptation of the evil and so fall in it. Thus, it is a reminder that evil and good neither go together nor side by side. That is the reason why when the demoniac saw Jesus, they (demons) couldn’t resist the power of Jesus coming to them and so asked Jesus to let them enter the pigs.

Therefore, in our day today life when faced with such situations, let us allow ourselves to let go of our bitter feelings of fear, anger, revenge, and the temptation to sin. Believe that Jesus can do miracles in our life.
