An authentic experience of Jesus is naturally contagious. The Gospel reading of the day is a clear proof of this fact.
John the Baptist, affirmed by God about the Messiah, experiences Holy Spirit descending upon Jesus and states that He is the Lamb of God. This Jesus-experience enables the disciples of John the Baptist to follow Jesus. They stayed with Him and experienced Him. Of course, this unique experience is strongly contagious. One of these disciples, Andrew, shares his experience with his brother Simon Peter and brings him to Jesus. As we know, Peter stays with Jesus and becomes the leader of the Church.
Dear reader, the Jesus-experience is contagious. This enumeration should raise a couple of questions: have I had a Jesus-experience? If no, let us desire for one such. If yes, how contagious it had been?
A real Jesus-experience will enable us to live a life described in the first reading: “Indeed the Son of God was revealed to destroy the works of the Devil. No one who is begotten by God commits sin, because God’s seed remains in him.” And this sinless life too is contagious. Let us become the bridges through which many will reach God.
